Melocalamus yunnanensis (also called Yunnan Melocalamus, among many other common names) is an evergreen shrub or small tree that grows up to 5 m tall. It is native to China and is found in evergreen forests and limestone hills. It has leathery leaves that are elliptic or ovate in shape and measure up to 8 cm long.
