Description
Lolium apenninum (also called Apennine Ryegrass, among many other common names) is a grass native to the Mediterranean region. It has narrow leaves and spike-like inflorescences. It grows in meadows, grasslands and disturbed areas.
Uses & Benefits
Lolium apenninum is used medicinally as an analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antispasmodic. It is also used as an ornamental plant in gardens.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Lolium apenninum has yellow flowers with five petals and a short peduncle. The seeds are small, black and round. The seedlings have small, oval-shaped leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Lolium apenninum is a perennial plant that can be grown from seed or cuttings. It prefers a sunny location and well-drained soil.
