Festuca paphlagonica (also called Paphlagonian Fescue, among many other common names) is a perennial grass native to Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. It has a tufted habit and grows to a height of 10-30 cm. It prefers dry, sunny habitats such as grasslands, meadows, and rocky slopes.

Cultivation and Propagation

Festuca paphlagonica can be propagated by seed or division. Seeds should be sown in spring in a cold frame or in a seedbed outdoors. When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and plant them out in the summer. Division is best carried out in spring or autumn. Larger clumps can be replanted direct into their permanent positions, though it is best to pot up smaller clumps and grow them on in a cold frame until they are rooting well. Plant them out in the spring.
