Festuca occidentalis (also called western fescue, among many other common names) is a species of grass native to western North America, from British Columbia to California and east to the Dakotas. This grass typically grows in dry, open areas such as hillsides, pastures, and roadsides. It is a perennial grass with a bunch-type growth habit and grows to a height of 0.3-1.2 m (1-4 ft).
