Description
Fargesia cuspidata (also called Chinese Fountain Bamboo, among many other common names) is a clumping bamboo species native to China, Vietnam, and Laos. It is a medium-sized species with a height of 4-6m and a culm diameter of 1.5-2.5cm. It is found in open woodlands, hillsides, and thickets.
Uses & Benefits
Fargesia cuspidata is a popular ornamental plant used in gardens and landscaping. It is a fast-growing, clumping bamboo with attractive foliage and a graceful habit. It is also used in erosion control and as a windbreak.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Flower: Small, yellowish-white flowers. Seed: Small, black seeds. Seedlings: Young seedlings are green with white stripes.
Cultivation and Propagation
Fargesia cuspidata is an evergreen bamboo with arching stems and long, thin leaves. It can be propagated by division in spring or early summer. Cultivation requires well-drained soil in a sunny or partially shaded position. It is hardy to about -15°C.

Fargesia cuspidata can be found in the Himalayas, in China, and in the mountains of northern Myanmar.
