Description
Chrysopogon velutinus (also called Velvet Grass, among many other common names) is a perennial grass native to India, Sri Lanka, and Southeast Asia. It grows in sandy soils and is commonly found in open grasslands, savannas, and disturbed areas.
Uses & Benefits
Chrysopogon velutinus is used as a fodder and for soil stabilization. It is also used as a fuel and for making mats and baskets.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The flower of Chrysopogon velutinus is a small, yellowish-green spikelet. The seed is a small, black, oval-shaped grain. The seedlings are thin and have a long, narrow leaf.
Cultivation and Propagation
