Description

Calamagrostis lapponica (also called Lapland Reed Grass, among many other common names) is a perennial grass native to northern Europe and Asia. It grows in wet meadows, marshes, and along the edges of streams and lakes. It has thin, upright stems that reach up to 1.5 meters tall, with narrow, linear leaves and small, feathery panicles of flowers.

Cultivation and Propagation

Calamagrostis lapponica is a perennial grass that is native to Europe and Asia. It is a clump-forming grass that typically grows to 2-3’ tall and as wide. It features narrow, arching, bright green leaves (to 8” long) and airy, feathery, silvery-green flower panicles (to 12” long) in late summer. Propagation is by division of clumps in spring or by seed. Plant in full sun to part shade in moist, well-drained soils.
