Description
Brachypodium pinnatum (also called False Brome, Tor Grass, and Meadow Foxtail, among many other common names) is a perennial grass native to Europe and Asia. It grows in meadows, grasslands, and disturbed areas, and is characterized by its upright, tufted stems and its narrow, pointed leaves.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Brachypodium pinnatum has small, yellow flowers with three petals. Its seeds are small, black and round in shape. The seedlings are thin and have a light green color.
Cultivation and Propagation
Brachypodium pinnatum is a perennial grass that can be propagated by seed or division. When propagating by seed, sow the seeds in a well-draining soil in a sunny location. Water the soil regularly and keep it moist until the seedlings emerge. When propagating by division, dig up the clump and divide it into smaller sections. Replant the sections in a sunny location with well-draining soil and water regularly.
