Description
Axonopus zuloagae (also called Carpetgrass, among many other common names) is a species of grass native to the tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas, including the Caribbean. It is a low-growing, mat-forming grass that grows in moist, shady areas, such as in forests, swamps, and along streams.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Axonopus zuloagae has small yellow flowers that are fragrant and grow in clusters. The seeds are small, round and black. The seedlings are thin and have long, narrow leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Axonopus zuloagae is a tropical grass that is easy to cultivate and propagate. It can be grown from seeds or cuttings. Seeds should be planted in a well-draining soil mix and kept moist until germination. Cuttings should be taken from the lower part of the stem and planted in a moist soil mix. Both methods should be kept in a warm, humid environment for best results.
