Andropogon macrophyllus (also called Large-leaved Bluestem, among many other common names) is a perennial grass native to the United States and Canada. It grows in prairies, savannas, and other open areas, and has a tall, upright form with a blue-green to purplish color. The leaves are long and narrow, and the seed heads are large and showy.
