Uses & Benefits
Plagiothecium succulentum is used as an ornamental plant in gardens and as a groundcover in landscaping.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Plagiothecium succulentum has small, yellow flowers with 6 petals that are arranged in a star-like shape. The seeds are small and black, and the seedlings are small and light green.
Cultivation and Propagation
Plagiothecium succulentum can be propagated by division of the rhizomes in spring or early summer. It can also be propagated from spores, which should be sown as soon as they are ripe in a cold frame. When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and grow them on in the greenhouse for at least their first winter. Plant them out into their permanent positions in late spring or early summer, after the last expected frosts.
Where to Find Plagiothecium succulentum
Plagiothecium succulentum can be found in moist, shady areas in the northern hemisphere, including Europe, Asia, and North America.
