Description
Lepanthes aeora (also called 'Aeora Lepanthes', among many other common names) is a small orchid species that is native to Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. It grows in wet montane forests at elevations of 1,000 to 2,000 meters. It has thin, erect, linear leaves and small, white flowers with yellow and red markings.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The flower of Lepanthes aeora is small and white with a yellow lip. The seed is a small, dark brown, oval-shaped seed. The seedlings are slender and have small, oval-shaped leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Lepanthes aeora can be propagated by division or cuttings. Division should be done when the plant is dormant and the roots should be divided into smaller sections. Cuttings should be taken from healthy plants and rooted in a moist, well-draining soil mix. Both methods should be kept in a warm, humid environment with bright, indirect light.
