Description
Lepanthes adelphe (also called 'Adelphe Lepanthes', among many other common names) is a small orchid species that is native to Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. It grows in wet montane forests at elevations of 1,000 to 2,000 meters. It has thin, erect, linear leaves and small, white flowers with yellow and red markings.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Lepanthes adelphe has small, white flowers with a yellow center and a long, slender spadix. The seeds are small and black. The seedlings are small and have two leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Lepanthes adelphe can be propagated by division or cuttings. Division should be done when the plant is dormant and the roots should be divided into smaller sections. Cuttings should be taken from healthy plants and rooted in a moist, well-draining soil mix. Both methods should be kept in a warm, humid environment with bright, indirect light.
