Cultivation and Propagation

Habenaria australis is a slow-growing, evergreen perennial. It can be propagated by division of the clumps in spring or by seed. The seed should be sown in spring in a well-drained, sandy soil in a sunny position. It is best to sow the seed in a greenhouse and then transplant the seedlings into individual pots when they are large enough to handle. The seedlings should be kept in the greenhouse for their first winter and planted out in the spring.
