Description
Epidendrum papallactense (also called Papallacta Epidendrum, among many other common names) is an epiphytic orchid native to Central and South America. It has long, thin stems and small, white flowers. It prefers humid, tropical climates and can be found in rainforests and cloud forests.
Uses & Benefits
Epidendrum papallactense is used as an ornamental plant in gardens and as a cut flower in floral arrangements. It is also used in traditional medicine to treat fever, inflammation, and other ailments.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Epidendrum papallactense has small, white flowers with yellowish-green sepals and petals. The seeds are small and round, and the seedlings are small and green.
Cultivation and Propagation
Epidendrum papallactense is a small, evergreen, epiphytic orchid. It prefers a warm, humid environment with bright, indirect light. Propagation is best done by division of the mature plant. The divisions should be planted in a well-draining medium such as orchid bark or perlite. The divisions should be kept moist but not wet, and should be fertilized regularly. Once the divisions have rooted, they can be transplanted into individual pots and grown on until they are ready to be planted out.
Where to Find Epidendrum papallactense
