Cultivation and Propagation

Epidendrum macphersonii is an epiphytic orchid. It is propagated by seed or division. Seeds should be sown as soon as they are ripe in a cold frame. When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and plant them out in the summer. Division can be done in spring or autumn. Larger divisions can be planted out direct into their permanent positions. We recommend covering the soil with a mulch of well-rotted manure or compost in winter.
