Description
Ceratostylis senilis (also called 'Senile Ceratostylis', among many other common names) is a species of orchid in the family Orchidaceae. It is native to India, Nepal, Bhutan, and China. It is found in subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The flower of Ceratostylis senilis is a small, white, five-petaled flower with a yellow center. The seed is a small, dark brown, oval-shaped seed. The seedlings are small, dark green, and have a single, oval-shaped leaf.
Cultivation and Propagation
Ceratostylis senilis is an evergreen, terrestrial orchid that grows up to 30cm in height. It prefers a shady position in well-drained soil and is drought tolerant. Propagation is by division of the clumps or by seed.
