Description
Ceratostylis selebensis (also called 'Seleb Ceratostylis', among many other common names) is a species of orchid native to tropical Asia, from India to the Philippines. It grows in moist, shady areas, such as in forests, on the banks of streams, and in grasslands.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The flower of Ceratostylis selebensis is a small, white, five-petaled flower with a yellow center. The seed is a small, dark brown, oval-shaped seed. The seedlings are small, dark green, and have a single, oval-shaped leaf.
Cultivation and Propagation
Ceratostylis selebensis is an evergreen, terrestrial orchid that grows up to 30cm in height. It prefers a shady position in well-drained soil and is drought tolerant. Propagation is by division of the clumps or by seed.
