It has small, oval-shaped leaves and grows in moist, shady areas in tropical and subtropical climates, such as rainforests and cloud forests.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The flower of Catasetum viridiflavum is a yellowish-green color with a white lip. The seed is a small, black, bean-like structure. The seedlings are small, green, and have a single leaf.
Cultivation and Propagation
Catasetum viridiflavum is an epiphytic orchid that can be grown in a well-drained potting mix in a partially shaded area. Propagation is done by division of the rhizomes. The plant can also be propagated from seed, although it is a slow process.
