Description
Psidium campestre (also called Field guava, among many other common names) is a shrub or small tree, usually reaching a height of 5-7 m. It is native to Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. It grows in tropical and subtropical regions, in open and disturbed areas, such as roadsides, pastures, and secondary forests.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The flowers of Psidium celastroides are small, white and bell-shaped. The seeds are small, black and round. The seedlings are thin and long with a single pair of leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Psidium celastroides is a species of tree native to Central and South America. It is a fast-growing tree, reaching heights of up to 20 feet. It can be propagated by seed or by cuttings. Cultivation is best done in a well-draining soil, in a sunny location. It prefers temperatures between 65-85°F and should be watered regularly, but allowed to dry out between waterings.
