Description
Eucalyptus taylorii (also called Taylor's mallee, among many other common names) is a small to medium-sized tree with a single trunk and a dense crown of grey-green foliage. It is native to Western Australia and is found in a variety of habitats, including woodlands, scrublands, and heathlands.
Uses & Benefits
Eucalyptus taylorii is used as an ornamental plant, for its fragrant leaves and its attractive bark. It can also be used as a windbreak or for erosion control.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The flower of Eucalyptus taylorii is a white-cream colour with a yellow centre. The seed is a small, ovoid-shaped capsule with a woody outer layer. The seedlings are small, with a single stem and a pair of opposite, sessile leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Eucalyptus taylorii is a fast-growing evergreen tree, growing up to 30 m tall. It is best propagated from seed, which should be sown in a well-drained, sandy soil mix. The seed should be lightly covered with soil and kept moist until germination. Once established, Eucalyptus taylorii is drought tolerant and requires little maintenance.
Where to Find Eucalyptus taylorii
