Description
Memecylon coursianum (also called Coursian Blueberry, among many other common names) is a small shrub or tree, up to 6 m tall, with a dense, rounded crown. It is native to Madagascar, where it is found in dry deciduous forests and in the spiny bush. It has oval leaves, up to 8 cm long, with a pointed tip and a wavy margin.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Memecylon coursianum has small, white flowers with five petals. The seeds are small and black, and the seedlings have two pointed leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Memecylon coursianum can be propagated from seed or cuttings. Seeds should be sown in a well-drained soil mix and kept moist until germination. Cuttings should be taken from healthy, mature plants and rooted in a moist soil mix. Both methods require bright, indirect light and warm temperatures.
