Helonias alpina (also called Wild Pear, among many other common names) is a shrub or small tree that grows up to 8 m tall. It has a dense, rounded crown and its leaves are simple, alternate, and ovate to oblong-lanceolate. It is native to South Africa and is found in coastal bush, forest margins, and riverine forests.
