Description
Grewia lavanalensis (also called Lavana Grewia, among many other common names) is a shrub or small tree with a spreading crown. It is native to India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. It prefers dry and moist deciduous forests, and is found at elevations of up to 1,000 meters.

Grewia lavanalensis is used in traditional medicine for treating fever, inflammation, and skin diseases. It is also used as a natural dye and in making paper and rope.

The flowers of Grewia lavanalensis are white, star-shaped and fragrant. The seeds are small, dark-brown and round. The seedlings are slender and have a single pair of leaves.
