Stigmaphyllon arenicola (also called Sand Stigmaphyllon, among many other common names) is a perennial herbaceous plant native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It has narrow, linear leaves and small, white flowers. It is found in dry, open areas such as grasslands, deserts, and scrublands.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Stigmaphyllon arenicola has yellow flowers and produces small, black seeds. The seedlings are small and have a single, oval-shaped leaf.
Cultivation and Propagation
Stigmaphyllon arenicola is an evergreen shrub that grows to a height of 2-3 m. It can be propagated from cuttings or by seed. Cuttings should be taken in the spring or summer and planted in a well-draining soil mix. Seeds should be sown in a well-draining soil mix and kept moist until germination occurs. Once established, the plant requires little maintenance and can tolerate a wide range of soil types.
