Lophocolea sumatrana (also called Sumatran Lophocolea, among many other common names) is a small, perennial, thalloid liverwort. It is found in tropical regions of the world, such as South America, Africa, and Southeast Asia. It typically grows on moist, shady, acidic soil, such as in forests, on tree trunks, and on rocks.

Lophocolea sumatrana has small, yellowish-green flowers with a single perianth lobe. The seeds are small, round and black. The seedlings are small and green.
