Description
Lindernia conferta (also called 'False Pimpernel', among many other common names) is an annual herbaceous plant with a prostrate stem and small, oval leaves. It is native to tropical and subtropical regions of Africa, Asia, and Australia and typically grows in moist, shady areas.
Uses & Benefits
Lindernia conferta is used as an ornamental plant in gardens and for landscaping. It is also used in traditional medicine to treat fever, headache, and stomach ache.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Lindernia conferta has small, white flowers with five petals. The seeds are small, round and black. The seedlings have long, thin stems and small, oval-shaped leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Lindernia conferta is a perennial plant that can be grown from seed or cuttings. It prefers full sun and well-drained soil. Propagation from cuttings is the most successful method. Cuttings should be taken in late summer or early autumn and planted in a well-drained potting mix. The cuttings should be kept moist until they have rooted. Once rooted, the plants can be transplanted into the garden.
