Swertia alpina (also called Alpine gentian, among many other common names) is a perennial herbaceous plant native to the Alps. It has a basal rosette of leaves and a single stem with a terminal flower head. The leaves are ovate to lanceolate and the flowers are white or yellow. It grows in moist meadows, open woods, and along streams and roadsides.
