Description
Vachellia sutherlandii (also called Acacia sutherlandii, among many other common names) is a shrub or small tree native to the tropical forests of Central and South America. It has a rounded crown and a short trunk, with smooth, greyish bark. Its leaves are alternate, oblong-lanceolate, dark green in color, and up to 8 cm long. It is found in the tropical forests of Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, and Venezuela.

Vachellia sutherlandii has small, yellow flowers, which are followed by long, thin, flat seed pods. The seeds are small and black, and the seedlings have long, thin stems with small, oval-shaped leaves.
