It is native to tropical Africa, where it is found in Angola, Cameroon, Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. It is found in moist savannas and grasslands.
