Description

Erythroxylum pungens (also called Cocillana, among many other common names) is a shrub or small tree that grows up to 8 m tall. It is native to Colombia, Venezuela, and Peru, and is found in humid forests, dry forests, and scrublands. It has a smooth, grayish bark and its leaves are alternate, ovate, and have a pointed tip.
