Description
Erythroxylum pacificum (also called Cocillana, among many other common names) is a shrub or small tree that grows up to 8 m tall. It is native to Colombia, Venezuela, and Peru, and is found in humid forests, dry forests, and scrublands. It has a smooth, grayish bark and its leaves are alternate, ovate, and have a pointed tip.

The flower of Erythroxylum pacificum is small, white and fragrant. The seed is small, black and round. The seedlings are small and have a dark green color.
Cultivation and Propagation
Erythroxylum pacificum is a perennial herbaceous plant that can be propagated by division in spring or autumn. It prefers full sun and moist, well-drained soils. It is tolerant of drought and can be grown in a variety of soils. It can also be propagated from seed, but this is not recommended as it is slow to germinate and may take up to two years for the seedlings to reach flowering size.
