Description

Arctostaphylos franciscana (also called San Francisco Manzanita, among many other common names) is a small evergreen shrub native to California. It typically grows up to 2 m (6.6 ft) tall and has small, glossy, dark green leaves. Its white flowers bloom in the spring and are followed by small, red berries. It is found in dry, rocky soils in the mountains and foothills of the San Francisco Bay Area.
