Description
Calyptrochaeta lucida (also called Shiny calyptrochaeta, among many other common names) is a small, yellow-green, liverwort species that is native to the tropical regions of Central and South America. It grows in humid forests and on wet rocks.
Uses & Benefits
Calyptrochaeta lucida is used in traditional Chinese medicine for treating various ailments such as fever, headache, and skin diseases. It is also used as a natural dye for fabrics and as a food additive.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Calyptrochaeta lucida has small, yellow flowers with four petals. The seeds are small and round, and the seedlings have two, heart-shaped leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Calyptrochaeta lucida is a small, cushion-forming moss that is found in tropical and subtropical regions. It is propagated by spores, which are released from the sporophytes. The spores can be collected and sown on a moist medium such as a soil-peat mixture. The moss can also be propagated by division of the cushion-forming plants. The plants should be divided into small clumps and then transplanted into a moist, shady location.
Where to Find Calyptrochaeta lucida
Calyptrochaeta lucida is native to tropical Africa and is found in moist forests and along streams. It can be found in countries such as Cameroon, Gabon, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
