Description

Eleocharis variegata (also called Variegated Spike-rush, among many other common names) is a perennial herbaceous plant with a creeping rhizome, and erect culms that can reach up to 30 cm in height. It is native to tropical and subtropical regions of the world, and is commonly found in moist soils in meadows, marshes, and along the edges of streams and lakes.

Uses & Benefits

Eleocharis variegata is used as an ornamental plant in aquariums and water gardens. It is also used as a soil stabilizer in wetland areas.
