Description
Eleocharis callensii (also called Callen's Spikerush, among many other common names) is an aquatic plant native to tropical and subtropical regions of Africa, Asia, Australia, and the Americas. It is found in shallow water, marshes, and wet soil, and grows to a height of up to 40 cm.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Eleocharis callensii has small, white flowers and its seeds are small, dark brown and glossy. Its seedlings have a single, long, cylindrical leaf that is light green in color.
Cultivation and Propagation
Eleocharis callensii can be propagated by seed or division. Seeds should be sown in a moist, well-draining soil mix and kept moist. Division should be done in the spring or fall and the divided plants should be planted in a moist, well-draining soil mix. Both methods should be kept in a warm, humid environment with indirect light.
