Description
Orostachys paradoxa (also called 'Paradox Stonecrop', among many other common names) is a succulent native to Central Asia. It has small, yellow flowers and thick, fleshy leaves. It grows in dry, rocky areas and is often found in mountainous regions.
Uses & Benefits
Orostachys paradoxa is used as an ornamental plant in gardens and parks. It is also used as a food source for bees and other pollinators.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The flowers of Orostachys paradoxa are small and white, and borne in clusters. The seeds are small and black, and the seedlings have two cotyledons.
Cultivation and Propagation
Orostachys paradoxa is a hardy, low-maintenance succulent that is easy to propagate from stem cuttings. To propagate, take a stem cutting of at least 3-4 inches in length and remove the lower leaves. Place the cutting in a dry, well-draining soil mix and keep it in a warm, bright location. Water the cutting sparingly and wait for new growth to appear before watering again. Once the cutting has taken root, it can be transplanted into a larger pot.
