Description
Dudleya albida (also called White dudleya, among many other common names) is a succulent perennial native to California. It grows in rocky, coastal areas and forms a low-growing rosette of thick, fleshy leaves. The small yellow flowers appear in late spring and early summer.
Uses & Benefits
Dudleya albida is used as an ornamental plant in gardens and for landscaping.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Dudleya albida has white or pink five-petaled flowers with yellow centers. The flowers are about 1 inch in diameter. The seed is a small, black, kidney-shaped nutlet. The seedlings are small and have a single pair of cotyledons.
Cultivation and Propagation
Dudleya albida is a succulent plant native to the coastal mountains of California and Baja California. It is a low-growing, mat-forming perennial with rosettes of spoon-shaped leaves. It can be propagated from cuttings or from seed. To propagate from cuttings, take a cutting from the stem or rosette and allow it to dry for a few days. Then, place the cutting in a pot filled with a well-draining potting mix. Water the cutting regularly and it should root within a few weeks. To propagate from seed, sow the seeds in a well-draining potting mix and keep them moist. The seeds should germinate in a few weeks.
Where to Find Dudleya albida
Dudleya albida can be found in the western United States, primarily in California, Oregon, and Washington.
