Description
Terminalia trichopoda (also called 'Hairy-footed Terminalia', among many other common names) is a small, epiphytic orchid with a single, erect, cane-like stem, up to 8 inches (20 cm) tall. It is native to Costa Rica and Panama, where it grows in wet montane forests at elevations of 3,000–5,000 feet (900–1,500 m).
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Terminalia trichopoda flowers are small, yellow-green in color, and have five petals. The seeds are small, black, and oval-shaped. The seedlings are small, with oval-shaped leaves and a thin stem.
Cultivation and Propagation
Terminalia trichopoda is a small tree or shrub that can be propagated from seed or cuttings. It is best grown in full sun or partial shade in moist, well-drained soil. It is drought tolerant and can tolerate some frost.
