Turbinicarpus nikolae is native to the Chihuahuan Desert of Mexico and the United States. It can be found in the states of Coahuila, Durango, Nuevo Leon, San Luis Potosi, and Tamaulipas in Mexico, and in the states of Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas in the United States.
