Description
Tillandsia weberi (also called Weber's airplant, among many other common names) is a species of epiphytic bromeliad native to Mexico and Guatemala. It has a rosette of gray-green leaves and produces a tall spike of pink flowers. It is commonly found growing on trees and rocks in tropical and subtropical forests.
Uses & Benefits
Tillandsia weberi is used as an ornamental plant in gardens and can also be used to create unique displays.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Tillandsia weberi has small, white flowers with four petals. Its seeds are small and black. The seedlings have two cotyledons and a short hypocotyl.
Cultivation and Propagation
Tillandsia weberi is a hardy, evergreen perennial that is easy to propagate. It can be propagated from seed or division. To propagate from seed, sow the seeds in a well-draining soil mix and keep the soil moist. Once the seedlings have emerged, thin them out to the desired spacing. To propagate from division, dig up the clump and divide it into smaller sections, then replant the sections in the desired location. Keep the soil moist until the plants are established.
