Description
Diplazium yaoshanense (also called Yaoshan Fern, among many other common names) is a perennial fern native to China and Taiwan. It is an evergreen plant with long, lance-shaped fronds that can grow up to 1.2 m long. It prefers moist, shady areas and is often found in forests, along streams, and in other wet habitats.
Uses & Benefits
Diplazium yaoshanense is used as an ornamental plant in gardens and as a houseplant. It is also used as a ground cover in shady areas.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Diplazium yaoshanense has small, yellow-green flowers that are clustered in a spike. Its seeds are small, black and round. The seedlings have two or three long, thin leaves that are light green in color.
Cultivation and Propagation
Diplazium yaoshanense can be propagated by division or by spores. It prefers moist, well-drained soil and partial shade. It is best grown in humus-rich, acidic soil in a sheltered position in dappled shade.
