Description
Lessingianthus sellowii (also called Sellow's Lessingianthus, among many other common names) is a perennial herbaceous plant native to Brazil. It has a woody stem and grows up to 1 meter tall. Its leaves are ovate, with a serrated margin and a pointed apex. It grows in open grasslands and in rocky areas in the Cerrado and Caatinga regions.
Cultivation and Propagation
Lessingianthus sellowii is an evergreen, perennial shrub that grows up to 2 m high. It is native to Brazil and is found in the states of Bahia, Ceará, Maranhão, Paraíba, Pernambuco, and Rio Grande do Norte. It prefers well-drained soils and full sun. Propagation is by seed or cuttings. Seeds should be sown in spring or summer in a well-drained, sandy soil and kept moist until germination. Cuttings should be taken in spring or summer and rooted in moist, sandy soil.
