Description
Katinasia cabrerae (also called Cabrera's Katinasia, among many other common names) is a shrub native to Argentina. It has small, oval-shaped leaves and yellow flowers. It grows in dry, open woodlands and scrublands.
Uses & Benefits
Katinasia cabrerae has been used as an ornamental plant, as a source of food for animals, and as a medicinal plant.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Katinasia cabrerae has a white flower with a yellow center, and its seeds are small and black. The seedlings are short and thin, with long, narrow leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Katinasia cabrerae can be propagated by seed or division. Seeds should be sown in spring or early summer in a cold frame. When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and plant them out in the summer. Division in spring or autumn. Larger divisions can be planted out direct into their permanent positions, though it is best to pot up smaller divisions and grow them on in a cold frame until they are established.
