Description
Distephanus mangokensis (also called Mango Groundsel, among many other common names) is an annual herbaceous plant native to the Caribbean. It has a basal rosette of leaves and yellow flowers that bloom in the summer. It grows in grasslands and open woodlands.

Distephanus mangokensis is used as an ornamental plant in gardens and parks. It is also used as a medicinal plant to treat various ailments such as fever, cough, and colds.

Distephanus mangokensis has yellow flowers with five petals and a center of yellow stamens. Its seeds are small, black and round. The seedlings have two oval-shaped leaves.
Cultivation and Propagation
Distephanus mangokensis can be propagated by seed or division. Seeds should be sown in spring in a cold frame and the seedlings transplanted into individual pots when they are large enough to handle. Division can be done in spring or autumn. Larger clumps can be divided using two forks to tease out the smaller divisions. Replant them straight away into individual pots and grow them on in light shade in the greenhouse for at least their first winter.
