Cousinia ortholepis (also called Rough Hawkweed, among many other common names) is a perennial herbaceous plant native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It has a basal rosette of leaves and a single, tall stem with a large, yellow flower head. It grows in dry, sandy soils in desert scrub and chaparral habitats.
