It is found in wet montane forests, often on mossy tree trunks. It has lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate fronds, with a length of up to 30 cm and a width of up to 4 cm.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Asplenium excelsum has small, yellowish-green flowers that are arranged in clusters. The seeds are small, dark brown and contain a single embryo. The seedlings are small and have a single, long-stalked leaf.
Cultivation and Propagation
Asplenium excelsum is a small, evergreen fern that grows in clumps. It prefers moist, well-drained soil and partial shade. Propagation is by division of the clumps or by spores. The spores should be sown on a sterile, moist, well-drained soil mix and kept in a warm, humid environment.
