Plectocomia pygmaea (also called Pygmy Plectocomia, among many other common names) is a shrub or small tree, up to 10 m tall. It is native to India, Bhutan, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and China. It is found in moist, evergreen forests, at altitudes of 500-1200 m.
