Description
Desmoncus giganteus (also called Caujarao-gigante, among many other common names) is a species of flowering plant in the Arecaceae family. It is a climbing palm with a slender stem and a crown of up to 10 leaves. It is native to the Amazon Basin in South America, and is found in tropical rainforest habitats.
Uses & Benefits
Desmoncus giganteus is used as a medicinal plant for its anti-inflammatory, antifungal, and antioxidant properties. It is also used in traditional medicine for treating fever, headaches, and stomach aches. In addition, it is used as an ornamental plant for its attractive foliage and flowers.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
Desmoncus giganteus has small, white flowers that are arranged in clusters. The seeds are small and black in color. The seedlings are thin and have long, narrow leaves.
