Description
Bactris rhaphidacantha (also called ‘Pupunha’, among many other common names) is a species of palm tree in the family Arecaceae. It is native to the Amazon rainforest in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela, where it is found in lowland tropical rainforest habitats. It is a medium-sized palm, growing to a height of 10–20 m (33–66 ft) tall.
Flower, Seeds and Seedlings
The flowers of Bactris rhaphidacantha are small, yellow-green in colour and grow in clusters. The seeds are small, black and oval-shaped. The seedlings are small, with a single stem and a few leaves.
